Build strength that holds up
Real, usable strength built through precise coaching and deliberate progression at UNTIL Marylebone: the foundation every other goal sits on.
Overview
What is strength training?
Strength is the base everything else is built on. Move meaningful loads well, through a full range, and you build the competency, joint integrity and resilience that make lean mass, fat loss and staying capable in later decades all easier to reach.
It also compounds on a timescale most people underestimate. Strength is earned over months and held for years, which makes it one of the highest-return things a busy person can train. His own live site puts the goal plainly: more than aesthetics, real usable strength that carries well beyond the gym floor.
In 1-to-1 coaching strength is coached rather than supervised. Technique is corrected inside the set, load is introduced deliberately, and progression follows demonstrated capacity rather than impatience. Where you start is set by the baseline assessment, not by where anyone thinks you ought to be.
The benefits of strength training
Ordinary life feels lighter
As baseline strength rises, the loads of a normal day stop registering as effort. Cases into overhead lockers, children, luggage, stairs at pace: all sit comfortably inside your capacity rather than at the edge of it.
Bone and connective tissue loaded properly
Progressive loading places a healthy demand on bone and tendon. Strength training is widely recognised as supporting bone density and joint stability, which is what builds a body that holds up under load.
More resilience against setbacks
A stronger, better-conditioned body copes better with awkward lifts, heavy days and the unexpected. Strength around a joint helps it share and absorb load, which tends to make everyday niggles less frequent.
The foundation for every other goal
Strength sits underneath lean mass, fat loss, sport and staying capable as you age. Build a genuine base first and every other goal becomes both easier to reach and easier to keep.
What gets in the way
Why you have stopped getting stronger
- Repeating the same sessions at the same loads, so nothing is asking the body to adapt
- Technique faults that quietly cap how much weight can be added safely
- Training dropped whenever work intensifies, so strength never accumulates
- Too little sleep and recovery for the body to absorb the work it is being given
- Protein and total intake too low to support building anything
- Programme variety mistaken for progression, so effort is high and adaptation is not

Frequently asked
questions
How long before I get noticeably stronger?
Most people feel more capable within three to four weeks as technique and coordination sharpen, with clearer strength gains over two to three months of consistent training. Your actual rate depends on training history, starting point and recovery, all of which are mapped at the baseline assessment first.
Do I need gym experience to start?
No. The baseline assessment exists so the programme starts where you are, and clients arrive from long training histories and from years away from structured exercise alike. Both get a first block built from their own findings and coached from the first session.
How many sessions a week does strength need?
For most people two to three strength-focused sessions a week return the most for the time invested. The right number depends on your goals, schedule and recovery, and it is agreed early so the plan fits your real week. Consistency across a block matters far more than any single hard session.
