Recovery, Sleep and Stress Coaching in Marylebone, London
The half of performance that happens away from training: sleep that restores you, a nervous system that settles, and recovery built into the plan rather than hoped for.
The short answer
What recovery, sleep and stress coaching involves
Training is a stress you apply on purpose. Whether it makes you better depends entirely on what happens in the twenty-three hours around it. Recovery, sleep and stress coaching is included in every W1 Performance programme for that reason, and it is often where the fastest change comes from.
For most people doing demanding work, the limiting factor is not the training. It is short sleep, a nervous system that never fully comes down, and a working week that keeps the body braced. Add hard training to that and you get more fatigue rather than more capacity. Address it, and the same programme starts producing what it should.
The tools here are practical: sleep structure, breathing and nervous system regulation, recovery placed deliberately inside the training week, and honest work on the habits that keep pressure high. This is coaching, not therapy. If what you need is clinical support, that is a conversation about a GP or a registered practitioner, and Leigh will say so.
What you get
What the work covers
- Sleep addressed structurally rather than with a list of tips: timing, environment, wind-down and consistency
- Breathing and nervous system regulation you can use in a meeting, not only on a mat
- Recovery placed deliberately inside the training week, so hard sessions are absorbed rather than accumulated
- Training load managed against actual recovery, so a bad fortnight does not turn into an injury
- The habits that keep pressure high looked at honestly, with the psychological dimension taken seriously
- A clear line on where coaching stops and clinical support begins, drawn early rather than late
How it works
How it fits your programme
Getting started
Before the first conversation, note roughly when you go to bed and wake, how often you wake in the night, when your energy drops through the day, and where stress shows up physically for you. If you use a sleep or recovery wearable, bring the last month of trends rather than a single night.
During your sessions
After your sessions
Sleep structure and the regulation tools are set up early and then practised on your own between sessions. They are reviewed at each monthly review alongside training and nutrition, and training load is adjusted to match the recovery you are actually getting.

questions
Is this therapy?
No. Leigh has formal training in psychotherapy and counselling and it informs how he coaches, but this is performance coaching and it is not offered as therapy or as treatment for any mental health condition. If that is what you need, he will say so and point you toward your GP or a registered practitioner.
What if I genuinely cannot sleep more?
Duration is only one lever, and often not the most available one. Consistency of timing, what the last hour before bed looks like, caffeine and alcohol placement, and how the day ends all move sleep quality without adding hours. We work with the week you actually have.
Do I need a wearable for this?
No, though if you already use one the data is useful context. Trends matter more than nightly scores, and how you feel and perform through a week remains a better guide than a single number. The coaching does not depend on owning a device.
How quickly does this make a difference?
Usually faster than training changes do, which surprises people. Sleep structure and breathing work can shift how a week feels within a fortnight. Deeper change in how you carry pressure takes longer, and it is the part that holds the rest of the programme together over years.
What is breathwork actually for here?
Two things: settling a nervous system that stays switched on, and improving how you breathe under load. Both are trainable. It is taught as a practical skill you can use before a difficult meeting or at the end of a long day, not as a separate practice you have to make time for.
